This week, Deep In Bear Country goes deeper than usual into the wild world of Berenstain Bears ephemera with our guest, Mark O’Brien of the YouTube channel “Uncommon Ephemera!” He’s unearthed a Filmstrip interview/documentary about Stan and Jan Berenstain that is one of the most delightful things I’ve ever seen. I also have on, as a bonus, my collectors Brad Mariska and Jeremy Gloff to talk about the Filmstrip and just shoot the breeze. It’s fun!

Those Mandala conspiracists don’t like the fact that Berenstain Bears books are religious now because it irrational, about fictional beings such as aliens changing Berenstain name, and bears that talk and wear clothes and live in treehouses. Don’t they know real Papa Bears don’t live or help raise their cubs? They eat them.
And they call Papa Bear an Idiot!
I like the photo where they are holding each other with Stan leaning his head on hers and Jan is threatening him with a closed fist. I wish they had a picture with Mama Bear and Papa Bear like that. It would be authentic.
